My opinion, after watching this film to which the 2018 Cannes Film Festival scheduled only a premiere out of competition, is that the attitudes and reactions triggered by this film are much more extreme than the film itself. I know it's not easy, because we are dealing with a person and a personality who provokes and shocks, who seeks and attracts scandals and who knows that advertising is best when it's bad. I have a proposal for those who have not yet seen 'The House That Jack Built', Lars von Trier's latest film (2018). Reviewed by dromasca 8 / 10 anatomy of evil The House That Jack Built is a dark and sinister story, yet presented through a philosophical and occasional humorous tale.-Zentropa Entertainments Along the way we experience Jack's descriptions of his personal condition, problems and thoughts through a recurring conversation with the unknown Verge-a grotesque mixture of sophistry mixed with an almost childlike self-pity and psychopathic explanations. ![]() ![]() As the inevitable police intervention is drawing nearer, he is taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork. ![]() ![]() We experience the story from Jack's point of view, while he postulates that each murder is an artwork in itself. We follow the highly intelligent Jack over a span of 12 years and are introduced to the murders that define Jack's development as a serial killer.
